Dear a Friend of EAPTC,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With your hand you have fulfilled it (1 Ki. 8:24)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love and greetings from South Korea.
We could not write you sooner because my family has been lately going through some major transition of life, trying to delegate some of the works in Kenya and at the same time to resettle in Korea for our very first and official furlough after 15 years of career missionary service in Kenya. Our bodies that have been adjusted to warmer African climate found it quite challenging to face a subzero winter in Korea upon arrival in its capital, Seoul. As you can imagine, we've not experienced this kind of cold weather for a long time! Eunice is busy shopping around to purchase household items since we either sold or gave away most of our belongings before we left Kenya. Timothy and Titus (who spent all their life in Kenya) are wondering what is going on around, having seen a new environment including advanced technology and transportation system. There seems to be at least some minor culture shock for most of us, because it has been almost 25 years since Eunice and I left Korea when we both were teens. Frankly, many things are rather new to us at the moment.
Although our
bodies may have caught the chill of Far East winter, our hearts are warmed by the fact that many brothers in Africa genuinely encouraged us as we were leaving for furlough. All in all, everyone is doing well - both our coworkers in Africa and my family here in Seoul. God’s work is moving on and growing in Africa even in our absence. We were able to designate two more pastors' kids in the western Kenya for a school fee assistance project. Tanzania churches are opening their first cross
-national daughter ministry in suburban Bujumbura soon in February 2012. Uganda churches just celebrated a ministerial ordination ceremony of our national representative, William Khaita. Kenyan church leaders came together in Funyula for a week of annual conference from November 29 to December 5. Kibera church located near Nairobi slum recently purchased a small hall for worship facility and had a dedication service on November 27. Each and every one of these fruits are the works of God’s hands, just as Joseph has confessed in Genesis 45 that it was God Who made him the way he became. We just can’t help but give all the glory to God for these fruits.
We'll appreciate your prayers for us to settle well here in Korea. Also, please continue to support the work of EAPTC Africa. Your continuous giving towards African church construction matching fund, microfinance project, and pastors’ kids scholarship will go a long way to assist faithful indigenous gospel workers who share the life-giving gospel of our Lord Jesus far more effectively than those of us here in the West. Untold millions in Africa are still waiting to hear the holistic gospel through our gifted preachers.
Don’t forget that you're in our prayers each and every day. We're especially praying for our American supporters who are under prolonged economy setback. Many of our brothers and sisters in Africa asked me to send you greetings as we were leaving. Kindly pray for my Ph.D. study at Oxford Graduate School and Eunice’s work on developing Montessori biblical curriculum during this furlough.
In closing, please take note of the change on EAPTC Kenya office’s address as below:
